Asia Europe partnership The European Commission hosts the first social partners’ forum with Asem, the Asia Europe Meeting, in Brussels (to July 1) with employment commissioners from the two regions.
Rice to China Condoleezza Rice, the US secretary of state, meets Chinese foreign minister Yang Jiechi and seeks to restart North Korea talks.
Fund forum Barcelona hosts Europe’s largest fund management event (to July 4) including a “credit crunch think-tank”.
Energy exchange The International Energy Agency in Paris hosts a conference (to July 2) about global policy and divergent views about the future.
UN development talks Biofuel cultivation and climate change are on the agenda when the United Nations economic and social council addresses political leaders in New York (to July 3). The policy session runs till July 24.
Blood diamonds NGOs and industry delegates discuss moves to eliminate the trade in gems from areas of conflict (so-called blood diamonds) at the World Diamond Council annual meeting in Antwerp (to July 1).

Middle East peace meeting Masahiko Komura, Japan’s foreign minister, hold talks in Tokyo on the peace process with ministers from Israel, the Palestinian Authority and Jordan.
Gibraltar forum David Miliband, UK foreign secretary, meets his Spanish counterpart, Miguel Angel Moratinos, in London to discuss the future of Gibraltar.
