- What is this?
This is the VT frontpage. It is a collection of stuff written by VT posters.
- But isn’t that just what the forum is?
Kind of, but they’re quite different. The posts here are more for entertainment or information than for discussion.
- I want to write posts.
That’s not a question, but okay. There is a register link on the left side of the home page. Or you could go here.
- I wrote a post, but I don’t see it. This sucks.
Immediately upon registering, you can write posts. However, before they appear on the front page, an editor must publish them. If your post is an incomprehensible mess (in an unfunny way) or just lame, it might stay in limbo forever.
- I wrote a post just a second ago, and it was on the front page, but now I see Cancer’s post. What the hell, Cancer is a dick.
Yes, he may be a dick, but that isn’t the problem here. What happened is that only the newest post of each category is shown on the front page. You’ll have to look into the archive for your category to find your post. Sorry! That’s just the way it works.
- Would it be possible for me to write a regular column?
Yes it is. PM either Cancer, Decoy, Extirpate, or Ferv and pitch them your idea. If it is decent, within some time, you will have your own category to post crap in. Super!
- Would it be possible for me to only write about one particular thing one time forever?
That question is a grammar nightmare, but yes. This isn’t a job. You aren’t obligated to do anything. You can write whatever you want, however often you want.
- When will this fad die?
Tomorrow. So write your posts today.
- Could I become an admin?
Probably no. I have written this site into such a delicate state, that the slightest mistake made with some option or some bit of code could kill it for a while. I’d rather this did not happen. There is a chance, but it is very small.
- Could I become an editor?
Yes. Post good stuff.Pretend to be reliable. And care about the frontpage a bit, and you can get editor status. As an editor, you are responsible for ensuring that posts that go up on the front page are free from various sorts of errors including but not limited to egregious spelling errors and disgusting formatting problems. You are also responsible for the creation of new categories where they are needed.
